On 17th September 2025, our Ladies & Vets teams headed to Dublin to play their respective Garda teams. The mens team an exciting match by 5 goals to 4 and the ladies were beaten by 6 goals to 3 but the scoreline flattered the hosts as the game was much closer than that. Men’s”Man of the Match” trophy was presented to Mattie Holden by the new Garda Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner Paula Hillman presented our President Gary Busch with a plaque commemorating the day. After match reception was held at Garda HQ that night and both teams stayed overnight before returning home the next morning.
On Saturday 7th June 2025 we hosted a now annual Army Vets triangular competition for the “Frank Hewitt Memorial Trophy”. Frank had been a hard working trustee for the Army veterans. In the semifinal we beat a guest team Dunmurry YM to replace Tri-Service who unfortunately couldn’t be facilitated by 3 goals to nil and in the final we beat the organising AAVS by 6 goals to 2. Other beaten semifinalists were 152 North Irish Vets. We supplied a buffet after the matches were trophies were handed out, and we also received “Player of the Tournament” which was jointly shared by William Wharry and Mattie Holden.
